What is WizardQuest?
I would describe WizardQuest as a fantasy-themed scavenger hunt sprawled across an extravagantly decorated four-story building. When I first saw the pictures online, I thought they must have highlighted the few best places in the game, but the pictures on the website don’t even start to cover all the amazing things hidden in there. We had such a great time exploring.

The area is roughly divided into four realms: fire, water, air, and earth. You will find unicorns, clouds, and birds in the air realm. Think about dragons, dungeons, and trolls in the realm of fire. Oak forests, fairies, and tree houses are in the earth realm, and finally, submarines, mermaids, and fish are in the water realm.
They describe it as interactive game “designed for adults with kids in mind” that is fun for the whole family. I agree. It is easier to follow the interactive features for older kids but the fantastical surroundings are fun for all ages. At 5&7 our kids were pretty tuckered by the 2 hour mark. For younger kids, consider MagiQuest which is more of a giant play area or Ripley’s Believe it or Not. I have a comparison of some of the popular indoor attractions in Wisconsin Dells here.
How Do I Complete Quests?

You get a tablet at the entrance which allows you to pick quests in the game as you go. To start the game, begin exploring and choose one of the tablets that are found in the realms. You pick the coordinating quest on your pad, and you will be given directions on the next steps. The fantasy character will give you a task of some sort to complete. An example is to help a mom find her missing baby fire salamander by using your blacklight flashlight to follow its tracks, or to help the Selkie get his magic cloak back.
Often times as you work to complete your task you will run into more characters with different goals who will try to change your quest. Your group will have to decide if you will follow through with the original task or be swayed by the new character. Watch out, not everyone’s intentions are as just as they first appear! Based on your decisions, you are put on a scale of white and black, alliance and chaos, good or bad.
In the end, whether you are ranked as an alliance or chaos only matters for bragging rights and which items you get a discount card for in the gift store at the end! If you end up balanced, you get a discount option on a broader number of items.
They have a pretty sweet gift store filled with fantasy-themed goods. Think 3-D printed dragons, huge foam swords, full-length cloaks, stuffed animals, books, and more.
Snack Bar and Bathrooms

Once your time starts, you have 2 hours to explore. We usually hit up the snack bar halfway through. There are restrooms, and the snack bar attendant can pause your game while you rest or snack. I like to bring a water bottle to keep everyone going.
There was nothing even sort of healthy there but it was a good moral boost for the kids. Cookies, popcorn, chips, soda, juice, candy.
Tips and Tricks
The snack booth attendant and the person in the great hall can offer tips if you need or want them. If you are totally lost or have no idea how to complete your quest, they can point you in the right direction.

Think you want to be there longer than 2 hours? There are special live quests you can do before you restart your game! Go see the host in the great hall, and he can give you the keys to a special quest; there is one in each realm. You don’t have to restart your game until you finish that quest.
Depending on the size of your group, you can get more than one pad and split up as you go. The larger the group, the more beneficial it will be to split up.
The currency system within the game is called Essence. If you get a few questions wrong, you may lose all your essence and have to get more. You do this by answering riddles near the Great Hall. There is a QR code to scan. The attendants have told me you get more essence if you answer the “hard” riddle correctly, but the riddles are the same for the “hard” and “easy!” Always pick the “hard one.” Another tip we got from the attendants is to take a picture of the QR code on your phone; that way, if you run out of essence far from the great hall, you can get riddles and more essence.
This is not a place for strollers. Plan on getting a lot of steps in. Some of the clues include narrow halls and places to crawl around. If you don’t like where the quest is taking you, just start a different quest!
Pricing for WizardQuest
Current pricing in 2025 is $23 for kids ages 3-9 years and $30 for guests nine and older. If you buy a combo pass for a same-day visit to Ripley’s Believe it or Not, you get a discount, roughly 25% off each. Because of that deal, we have done both activities on the same day. It is good for a weather day that makes you want to stay inside.

Concluding Thoughts
Does some of this not make sense? Don’t worry, once you get inside, it will make sense. Go for it! It’s a great way to have some fun.
