I love Halloween, and so do my kids. What better way to enjoy the season than to head to Wisconsin Dells and explore the city’s attractions with ghoulish decor? There are so many options! Which one is the right scare level for your family? Here is a haunted breakdown of things to do with kids in Wisconsin Dells for Halloween. For general Wisconsin Dells recommendations for all seasons, here are all our favorites.
Fun For All

Our favorite attraction, and one we can wholeheartedly recommend for all ages, is the Wisconsin Dells Dinner Theater Monster Mash production! We all loved this show! It is steeped in Halloween flavor and creeps, but not in a way that would prevent even young kids from enjoying it. It’s packed with references to Halloween horror movies and characters that will make adults chuckle and remember old scares. My favorite scene by far was when the Sanderson’s sisters from Hocus Pocus raise the spirits of dead mass murderers who then dance, Magic Mike style, to the song “It’s Raining Men.” LOVED IT! The dress code is casual, but costumes are welcome, and many people embrace that.
For a fun vibe, but not a true haunting, check out the Haunted Hooks at Pirates Cove, after-dark mini golf. They dye the waterfall red and have eerie lighting.
A Little Scary

My youngest kid still isn’t a fan of haunts, so we started easy with The Lost Temple. This isn’t technically a Halloween experience, but it has a creepy vibe that works well for this season. It is dark, with mummy/temple scenes with robotics that occasionally startle or scare.
Ready to turn up the heat? Check out the year-round attractions, Ghost Outpost and the slightly spookier Haunted Mansion. These are generally recommended for kids ages 8-12 who want a bigger scare. Neither of these has live actors, so while the scenes can be scary, no one is coming out for you.
Real Scary
Ready for haunted attractions with live actors and real spooks? You have several options. The least scary is probably the Cursed Mountain Coaster. See the decor without the scares during the day, or buy tickets after 8 pm for live actors, darkness, speed, and creepy lighting that increase the scare factor.
The infamous Wisconsin Ducks has special haunted tours with Dells Army Ducks during the Halloween season. This land-only tour includes live actors to increase the scare factor. Guests ride into the dark woods and get off the Duck to walk a haunted trail. Live actors are ready to give you a scare.
The year-round attraction Ghost Boat Tours is the scariest of the Haunted attractions. It follows a path similar to the Upper Dells tours and has visitors disembark at a super spooky canyon for a good scare. There are live actors, and they are coming for you!
